Oiz Wind Farm
The Oiz wind farm is Iberdrola España's first wind farm in Bizkaia/Vizcaya. With an installed capacity of 34 MW, it consists of 40 wind turbines, each with a unit capacity of 850 kW and a height of 55 metres.
The Oiz wind farm stands out for its strong commitment to the environment, reflected in the implementation of bird protection measures and the signage of heritage sites and elements. Thus, archaeological treasures such as the Iturzurinaga dolmen, the Probazelaiburua burial mounds, and other elements have been protected.
In addition, Oiz has the first wind energy storage battery in the country. This battery is located at the Abadiño electricity substation, where the Oiz wind farm feeds into the grid. It has a capacity of 3.5 MW and enables the accumulation of energy produced by the Biscayan wind farm.

Barazar Hidroelectric Plant
In the heart of the Gorbea massif, in the municipality of Zeanuri (Vizcaya), lies the Barázar underground hydroelectric power plant. This facility uses water from the Urrunaga reservoir, located in Álava, and supplies a large part of the consumers in the metropolitan area of Bilbao.
To access the Barazar power plant, which has a head of 330.3 meters, a tunnel was built where supersulphated cement was used for the first time in Spain to protect the structure from the influence of gypsum, which is harmful to the conservation of hydraulic works. The hydroelectric power station was commissioned in 1957 and has an installed capacity of 84.32 MW.
