Abi Afthab Olikathodi
Abi is a Senior Analyst at Eurelctric with a mechanical engineering background with over nine years of industry experience, starting in the oil and gas sector before transitioning to clean energy sector. He holds a Master’s in Energy and Environmental Management from the University of Flensburg in Germany, where he specialized in energy systems analysis and modelling.
He joined Eurelectric as a Policy Advisor and Analyst, initially overseeing a working group representing electricity market participants on European market integration and network codes. In this role, he worked on key policy areas, including amendments to the Capacity Allocation and Congestion Management (CACM) Network Code, the Forward Market Network Code, and market arrangements for offshore hybrid projects. Later, he led Eurelectric’s work on sustainable grid technologies, addressing topics such as F-gas regulation and the sustainability of electricity grids.
Beyond his past policy and regulation work, for the last 5 years, he has also been leading Eurelectric’s business intelligence activities, developing key data insights on European power markets and the energy transition. He is the driving force behind Eurelectric’s annual Power Barometer, which tracks critical trends in the power sector, and the creator of Eurelectric’s data tool Elda, which provides real-time insights into power sector dynamics
