Mikel Jauregi
Mikel Jauregi, Minister of Industry, Energy Transition, and Sustainability of the Basque Government, was born in Zarautz on January 9, 1974. He graduated in Sociology, specializing in Industrial Relations, from the University of Deusto. He moved to the United Kingdom to complete a master's degree at the London School of Economics. He began his professional career in London as a consultant at PWC. From 2002 to 2022, he worked at BP plc (formerly British Petroleum), the world's leading integrated energy company. In his last executive position within BP, he led the integration of the new gas and renewables division, including the creation of the new hydrogen, offshore wind, and solar businesses.
Prior to joining the Basque Government, he worked as a manager at Centrica plc, the UK's leading gas and electricity company, managing power generation, hydrogen, and renewable energy optimization projects. His professional career has taken him to countries as diverse as the United Kingdom, the USA, Russia, Angola and Brazil.
