Joseba Jimeno Huarte
Joseba Jimeno is an Electric Engineer and holds a Master's degree in Communication Networks (University of the Basque Country, 2001). He has been working at the TECNALIA Technology Center since 2001 as a senior researcher (since 2011) in R&D projects related to Smart Electrical Grids.
His main work areas include the development of technologies that enable the integration of distributed generation, as well as active demand management in the electrical system. Specifically, he has designed and developed control systems for electrical microgrids, demand aggregation tools for participation in flexibility markets, and tools to facilitate the operation of the distribution network using distributed energy resources. Currently, he is conducting research to develop flexibility management systems and their participation in congestion and balancing markets, as well as developing platforms for P2P (peer-to-peer) energy exchange in Local Energy Communities.
Joseba Jimeno has participated in the Smart Grid Coordination Group within the framework of the European Commission's mandate M/490. He is currently involved in the Smart Grid International Research Facility Network (SIRFN) of the International Energy Agency (IEA) in the working group on Microgrids in the field of experimental research facilities.
Joseba Jimeno has participated in more than 15 projects funded by the European Commission, national organizations, and private sector electric companies. He has contributed to more than 35 scientific publications and conferences. He is co-author of a patent related to energy management in microgrids.
