Johan Mörnstam
Johan Mörnstam is the CEO of E.ON Sweden and Nordic since 2023, the largest grid operator in Sweden, second-largest player in district heating, and third-largest electricity retailer, making E.ON a cornerstone of Sweden’s energy ecosystem.
Under Johan’s leadership, E.ON has accelerated investments in electrification and digitalization, reinforcing the position as a key enabler of the energy transition. Across Europe and in Sweden, E.ON is executing its largest investment program ever: EUR 48 billion group wide between 2024-2028 and in Sweden SEK 27 billion in the electricity grid between 2024 and 2027, a 50% increase compared to the previous regulatory period. These investments strengthen grid capacity, enable faster connections for renewable energy projects, and support electrification of transport and industry.
Beyond his role at E.ON, Johan serves as Chairman of E.DSO (European Distribution System Operators), where he advocates for DSOs as the backbone of Europe’s clean energy future. Appointed in 2024, Johan has focused on strengthening impact, collaboration and innovation across Europe’s distribution networks. He also sits on the Board of the EU DSO Entity, shaping policy to advance decarbonization and digitalization.
Johan has previously held senior roles at E.ON including CEO of Energy Networks Sweden, Senior Vice President for Energy Networks Europe, and leadership positions in trading and optimization. He holds an Executive MBA from Lund University and has completed executive programs at Harvard Business School, London Business School, and IMD.
