Gonzalo Murillo
Dr. Gonzalo Murillo is the founder and CEO of Energiot, a deep-tech company developing self-powered IoT sensor solutions for smart grids. He received his Electronic Engineering degree from the University of Granada (Spain) in 2007 and his PhD in Electronic Engineering from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) in 2011.
He is an expert in micro- and nanotechnology, energy harvesting and industrial IoT. Throughout his career, he has conducted research at leading international institutions including Infineon (Germany), MINATEC (France), the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), INHA University (Korea), the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL, Portugal), the Georgia Institute of Technology (USA), and the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM, CSIC).
In 2016, he was awarded the prestigious Innovator Under 35 and Most Novel Innovator in Europe recognitions by MIT Technology Review (MIT TR35). He later received the highly competitive la Caixa Junior Leader Fellowship (2019, 2% success rate) and the Spanish National Research Award in Technology Transfer (2023), granted by the King and Queen of Spain.
He has also been the recipient of the Engega, Climate KIC, and Cleantech Camp awards, and a finalist of the “Premio Joven Relevante” del Círculo Ecuestre, EDF Pulse Awards, and Premio Everis. In 2019 and 2020, he was selected as an Economic Leader of Tomorrow by the Choiseul Institute.
