Etxanobe Landajuela, Elixabete
Date of birth: 13 February 1978
Academic Background: She holds a bachelor’s degree in law, specialising in economics, awarded by the University of Deusto. She also holds a master's degree in Law from the Institute of Higher Studies - San Pablo CEU University Foundation and a master's degree in Fundamental Rights and Public Powers from the University of the Basque Country. Her studies also included various specialisation courses in administrative law, administrative procurement and public administration heritage.
Professional Career: After finishing her legal studies, her professional career has mainly centred on the Public Administration. She is a tenured civil servant at Durango City Council, where for ten years she carried out functions related to procurement, heritage and urban planning issues. In 2013, she was appointed Director of Relations with Local Administrations and Administrative Registers of the Basque Government. The most outstanding work of that period was her participation in the processing, negotiation and approval of the Basque Law on Local Institutions in 2016. She also participated in the drafting of two of its implementing decrees, including the decree on the standardisation of the institutional and administrative use of the official languages in the local institutions of the Basque Country in 2019. During this period, she also took responsibility in areas such as foundations, associations and professional associations, whose registers came under her Directorate. In 2019, she became Deputy Minister of Institutional Relations of the Basque Government and at the end of 2020, she transferred to the Ministry of Security, taking on the role of Deputy Minister of Administration and Services. In 2021, she was appointed Provincial Deputy for Public Administration and Institutional Relations of the Government of Bizkaia and on 5 July 2023, she was elected President of the Government of Bizkaia by the General Assembly of Bizkaia.
