Adina Georgescu
Adina Georgescu is a lawyer with more than 19 years of experience on energy and climate change at national and European level. She started her career in 2006 in the Romanian Ministry of Economy, working on internal energy market, security of energy supply and gas interconnections. She then moved to the European Commission – DG Energy - where she spent 6 years working on renewable energy policy.
After a short stint in the aluminium sector as representative in Brussels of the only Romanian aluminium smelter, Adina was called back to Romania in 2016 to be the adviser on energy and climate change issues to the technocrat Prime-Minister of the Romanian Government. She coordinated the implementation of the Government’s policy priorities on energy, climate change and environment, with a special focus on renewable energy, Romania’s Energy Strategy, security of supply and gas interconnections, ETS negotiations, waste management and forest protection.
At the beginning of 2017, she returned to the aluminium sector as Romanian smelter Alro’s director for European affairs, preparing and implementing the company’s advocacy strategy, particularly in relation to EU institutions.
As of 15 July 2022, Adina joined Eurometaux – the European non-ferrous metals industry association – as Energy & Climate Change Director.
