Heating in European buildings and industry is a major energy consumer, representing about 40% of total EU final energy consumption. Cogeneration is one of several solutions that can help decarbonise heat in Europe by increasing the efficiency of energy use, producing electricity and useful heat simultaneously, thereby reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
