In a sector focused on low carbon energy, cost control, consumer experience and security of supply, with seismic changes to load and demand patterns, particularly at the distribution level, electricity DSOs have had to evolve to account for the increasing significance and impact of Distributed Energy Resources. 

This has necessitated greater digital expansion, enabling monitoring and control of a wider group of assets, including their more efficient use – but also increased dependency on reliable connectivity.

Ensuring appropriate availability of digital services is essential, therefore infrastructure operators need to look beyond conventional solutions at emerging hybrid connectivity options.
