AI is reshaping the energy sector—with opportunities to change the way we forecast, optimise assets, and operate with real-time management. While Europe is not currently leading in the race for providing general-purpose AI, the question now is: where should we focus, and where are the real opportunities? This panel explores how Europe can accelerate meaningful AI adoption in the energy sector. Should EU funding prioritise general-purpose AI models, or focus on targeted, sector-specific applications? What does the industry need to scale up AI deployment in terms of technical capacity, regulatory clarity, and innovation agenda?
