Decentralised Intelligence at the Grid Edge
Grid operators are facing challenges from the massive integration of EV-charging, heat pumps and other large appliances, and traditional centralised grid operation require support from on-location decision making based on local observability and data-exchange.
Grid Edge technology allows a gradual transition to support new innovative use-cases, still allowing operation of high value legacy assets. The technology opens up for new and innovative business-models where grid operators can both select from a scope of available applications and develop applications to their bespoke needs.
Itron and EDF have partnered in order to trial Grid Edge technology for the LV network aiming to develop a better understanding of the requirements and possibilities of this technology for European grid architectures.
The perspective of the Grid Edge common DSO challenges, and applicability and practical experience of Distributed Intelligence will be explored
