DIGITOPIA - Panel 1: Meeting the demands of customer-centred digitalisation
Co-hosted with Eurelectric. This session is composed of 2 high level panels.
This panel nb 1 will explore how DSOs can meet the increasing demands of customer-centred digitalisation. As new and diverse players enter the grid ecosystem, DSOs must modernise to facilitate flexible connection agreements and enhance customer service and reliability, especially with an ever increasingly higher number of connected Distributed Energy Resources (DERs).
Currently, DSOs are prioritising reliability (electricity availability and quality) and customer services (meter-to-cash, customer connections). These priorities translate into digitalisation initiatives in operations, including automation, advanced distribution management systems (ADMS), advanced OT systems, and low voltage monitoring.
These digitalisation efforts yield significant customer benefits, such as improved grid reliability and power supply quality, shortened connection periods, better customer service, enhanced customer empowerment with energy consumption insights, and maximised smart meter value, enabling customer participation in innovative energy offers.
1. What solutions can DSOs implement to keep pace with increasing customer connections and demand for reliability?
2. How can technology further enhance DSO operations to equally benefit customers and the grid?
3. How can DSOs ensure privacy and security of customer data amidst digitalisation?
