ATELIER (AmsTErdam BiLbao cItizen drivEn smaRt cities) is an EU-funded Smart City project aiming to create and replicate Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) within two Lighthouse Cities and six Fellow Cities striving for sustainability and carbon neutrality.
ATELIER is funded by the European Commission under the H2020-LC-SC3-2018-2019-2020 Smart Cities and Communities call. Coordinated by the City of Amsterdam, the project combines the expertise and the commitment of 30 partners from 11 countries. ATELIER focuses on developing citizen-driven Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) supported by integrated smart urban solutions in the two Lighthouse Cities: Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Bilbao (Spain). Their successful implementations is being replicated and tested for feasibility in the six Fellow Cities: Bratislava (Slovak Republic), Budapest (Hungary), Copenhagen (Denmark), Krakow (Poland), Matosinhos (Portugal), and Riga (Latvia).
The project stands on three main principles:
- Reduction of CO2 emissions
- Sustainable, secure and affordable energy systems for citizens
- Collaboration and knowledge sharing
What will we be doing / showcasing at the event: Project progress and main outcomes with particular focus on Bilbao, which is one of the project Lighthouse Cities.
