Gianluca Sapienza is head of Grid Digitalization within Gridspertise and have in charge Smart Grid & Flexibility Labs of the company.
He received the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2008 and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano in 2011, in collaboration with Enel Infrastructures & Networks. His main fields of expertise are Smart Grids devices, systems and ecosystems engineering & training, real-time power systems simulation, modelling & analysis, innovative sensors design & prototipation. From 2008 he worked on Petersen Coil automatic tuning devices, Petersen Coil detuning metering systems, Advanced Voltage Regulation infrastructures and protection devices engineering. He was also involved in the “RGDM project”, to design the new generation secondary substation protection devices. From 2012 his activity involved distributed generation & energy storage control, rollout of Advanced Voltage Regulation in “POI-P3” and “Isernia” Smart Grid projects and the definition of advanced fault selection techniques. From 2014 he worked on the “Milano EXPO 2015” project on studies concerning the transient behaviour of Rogowsky-based low power instrumentation transducers during the grid meshed operation. From 2016 his activity involved the development of Remote Control & Automation System and Distribution Management System for realtime network management & state estimation. Gianluca Sapienza is author and co-author of technical papers involving DSO activities and Smart Grids and co-author of books concerning electrical engineering and photovoltaic systems modelling.
