George has been working for over a decade as a policy officer at the European Commission, with most of that time dedicated to energy topics, including energy efficiency and energy security. He currently focuses on EU policies for developing smart energy systems, such as promoting digitalisation and fostering research and innovation.

Prior to joining the Commission, he worked in the field of regional and local development in a Romanian region. He contributed to development planning, and managed several EU-funded projects. He also worked in a DSO on grid development, energy efficiency and smart metering.

George has a background in electrical engineering, and holds a masters in project management and a post-university diploma in the management of public administration.
