Mr. Dan Catanase is the Electrification Strategy Manager at ESB Networks, the Irish Distribution System Operator. With over 25 years of extensive experience across the electricity industry, Mr. Catanase has led numerous transmission, distribution and asset management projects in Ireland as well as abroad, including Romania, Bahrain, Tanzania, Malaysia, and many others.

His current position involves leading collaboration across the breadth of the DSO business, driving the implementation of the electrification strategy objectives for decarbonising heat and transport, and engaging with external stakeholders that include Irish Government, various national authorities, and at a European level working with peers and partners in a collaborative, shared learning and solution focused manner.

Mr. Catanase is a Charted Engineer with Engineers Ireland and holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He is an active member of the E.DSO Policy and Regulation Committee where he has chaired the E-mobility Working Group, having coordinated the publication of the ‘Grid-Optimised Deployment of Charging Infrastructure for Light and Heavy-Duty Vehicles’ paper.
