Dutch Innovators seek to accelerate the energy transition

Dutch Innovators seek to accelerate the energy transition
Find out how five Dutch scale-ups, who epitomise the country’s sixth sense for innovation and entrepreneurship, are applying their solutions to accelerate the energy transition and tackle the climate crisis.

The Netherlands has a history of innovation and pushing the boundaries that stretch back centuries.

In the 17th century, not only did it establish the first stock market, it made the first-ever telescope and the first moveable submarine prototype – all things we now take for granted, but were game-changing at the time.

In the intervening centuries, that entrepreneurial spirit has been nurtured and encouraged. And in more recent times, The Netherlands has been in the top five of the Global Innovation Index, while it well-known for embedding entrepreneurship and innovation in its higher education institutions.

This natural entrepreneurship is now being applied to tackling one of the greatest challenges mankind has ever faced: the climate crisis.

In December last year, Initiate and Enlit Europe were proud to partner with Techleap.nl, to stage a special on-line session to showcase five of the scales-ups that Techleap.nl is working with and supporting.

What is Techleap.nl?

Techleap.nl is a non-profit organisation, funded by the Dutch government, that launched in July 2019 and has a 4-year mandate to accelerate the tech ecosystem in Netherlands.

Through its programmes and initiatives, it seeks to break down barriers and improve access for start-ups and scale-ups to talent, capital, networks, knowledge and markets, and empowering them can grow into successful and impactful companies.

It recently published a report demonstrating why Dutch scale-ups and start-ups are well positioned to have a global impact on the energy transition and help flatten the climate curve. The report provides greater understanding of the energy start-ups landscape in the Netherlands.

Entrepreneurs can also learn how to take their energy start-up across borders, with examples of successful internationalisation strategies, plus an overview of the ongoing energy transition efforts on both a global and local scale and an introduction to the new energy policies and the opportunities they create for scale-ups;

The report can be downloaded here.
