ENERGATE Energy Efficiency Marketplace – Connecting Building Owners, Implementors and Financiers for Sustainable and Standardised Investments in Building Renovations
)
The ENERGATE project aims to facilitate communication between market actors and upstream Energy Efficiency in buildings, by focusing on the development of an ICT enabled marketplace. The ENERGATE platform pursues to enable effective collection of project related information, business matchmaking and aggregation of projects while supporting EE investment by providing services for sustainable financing of building renovation.
User Categories
With the ENERGATE marketplace, building owners (including various stakeholders such as asset or property managers, building administrators or real estate developers, public authorities), as well as implementors (stakeholders executing EE projects in buildings (ESCOs, project developers, engineering companies, architect & design companies, energy consultants, installers, maintenance companies)) will be able to report on their projects in a standardised manner, thus ensuring transparency and efficiency in the dialogue with investors. The marketplace will also offer information about other projects, best practises and funding schemes to help them find the best financing solution.
Sustainable finance actors, on the other hand, will find in the ENERGATE marketplace the go-to source of information about EE projects in buildings. Reliable, aggregated, and accurate information – both on implemented projects and on future ventures – should facilitate the process of building an investment portfolio and monitoring its development.
The ENERGATE platform stages
The ENERGATE platform’s workflow is divided into four stages.
Zero Stage – User Registration
All users select a Building Owner, Implementor or Financier profile and fill in basic information, both personal (e. g. name, surname, role etc.) and additional information about the company the user represents.
Fetch Stage – Data Collection
The Building Owners insert building related information, technical, commercial and risk related aspects of the project. The data are collected in a structured manner, so that recommendations are made based on the existing projects in the ENERGATE database and the buildings can be matched with Implementors able to execute the project and provide technical support for the necessary EE measures. If they agree to execute the EE project, the Implementors prepare an offer.
Process Stage – Aggregation and Matchmaking
During the aggregation process the similarities between individual projects can be identified and bundles of products are created and offered to the Financiers. The matchmaking between the products and the Financiers takes place, based on the criteria declared by them and a multicriteria decision making methodology. If all users come to an agreement, the project is implemented and financed.
Deliver Stage – Feedback and Validation
Users follow up on realised projects, by documenting project results and providing validation and feedback. This will enhance the flow of “real” information, increase traceability, as well as standardisation of the investment projects, and foster trust among the platform users.
ENERGATE pilots
The first financeable packages offered by the ENERGATE marketplace will be based on the information provided by five pilots partners through a pre-selection process of EE projects across Europe. The same pilots, which include indicative representatives of both the supply and demand sides of EE projects, will then use the marketplace and provide feedback on its tools, thus ensuring they will be fine-tuned to fulfill the most critical needs of all market actors.
