Let’s utilise Enlit Europe to connect the best of Canada to the rest of the world!

Canada’s ongoing efforts to transition to a clean and renewable power supply and upgrade its electricity infrastructure is a significant driver of transmission and distribution (T&D), and smart grid investment. Canada is a smart grid pioneer, and is one of the world’s earliest adopters of smart grid technologies with:

  • more than 50% smart meter penetration
  • over 10 GW in distributed generation,
  • 40,000 electric vehicles on the road
  • and almost 1,100 electric vehicle charging stations.

By 2020, the smart grid industry in Canada will grow to approximatelly $2 billion.

Steady innovation and development have made Canada one of the world leaders in the production and use of renewable energy, ranking first in the G20 CleanTech Innovation Index and fourth on the Global Cleantech Innovation Index. Canada’s commitment to green energy is clear. The sector accounts for 3.2% of the country’s GDP and 12 Canadian companies ranked, for the third year in a row, in the Global Cleantech 100. Renewable sources, especially hydro, biomass and wind, provide 67% of Canada’s electricity and 17.3% of its energy.

Key Objectives

  • Triple Canada’s Cleantech exports by 2025
  • Attract new investment to increase Canada’s Cleantech sector
  • Double the number of high-growth digital and Cleantech companies in Canada, by 2025.
  • Reduce Canada’s greenhouse emissions by 30% by 2030
